National award-winning dancer, choreographer and teacher Gaby Cook returns to SF for a visit…and is offering a sure-to-inspire workshop in Solo Jazz and Lindy Hop! Immerse yourself for an afternoon and have fun learning alongside other highly motivated students!

Schedule

3-4:30pm Solo Jazz: learn a fun solo jazz routine — and dive deep into quality of movement, and ways to improve overall physical performance of solo jazz steps.

4:30-6pm Lindy Hop: touch on topics of connection, momentum (linear and angular), as well as unique rhythms that fit into the dance.

Workshop Costs

Full Workshop (2 x 90min classes): $30 by April 1 / $35 full price online / $40 at the door.

30 couples max. Drop-ins for individual classes may be possible ($20/class) on the day of the workshop, depending on space.

About Gaby

Gaby is national-award winning dancer who is praised for her dynamic style and choreographic ingenuity. In her 10 years+ of professional experience, she has appeared on stages around the world, and has garnered various film and television credits. In addition, she is also lead choreographer for Gatsby Entertainment NYC, a entertainment production house, specializing in Great Gatsby theme.

With a solid foundation of studio dance training, she has developed a unique style in lindy hop. She blends the raw, athletic power of lindy hop, with the grace and refinement of the movie musical-era. She brings great care to lines, shapes and balance in her personal performance, as well as her choreographic work. In New York, she is a cast member. In the classroom, she shares her knowledge of the dance with a cheerful disposition, and clear straight-forward instruction. She is passionate about lindy hop traditions and works to share the joy of swing with new audiences.
