About your Instructors
Nathan & Yon first started dancing together on the social dance floors of San Francisco venues such as the 9:20 Special and Lindy in the Park. Their great connection on the dance floor led them to partner frequently for performances, competitions, as well as teaching local group dance classes and workshops.
Nathan is a full-time swing dance teacher, DJ and organizer in San Francisco, where he hosts the weekly Cat’s Corner Swing Dance Party on Wednesday nights. He has been a featured guest instructor at the SLO* Workshop (San Luis Obispo), Swingin’ at the Savoy & California Swingin’ Workshops (Silicon Valley), and Santa Swing (Santa Barbara). His recent awards include 1st Place Jack & Jill & 2nd Place Strictly Lindy finishes at the 2011 Boogie by the Bay Dance Competition. Nathan performed with SF Bounce from 2003-2005, and with the 3 Minute Maniacs 2004-2005. Nathan’s mission as a swing dancer is to spread joy to people through dance and music.
Yon loves to social dance and feels fortunate to be able teach swing dancing over the years. Before her move to Santa Barbara, Yon frequently taught at San Francisco venues such as City College of SF, Swing Central, Wednesday Night Hop, Cat’s Corner and the 920 Special. Yon’s dance awards include 2009 1st Place Camp Hollywood Amateur Jack & Jill, and 2009 1st Place Boogie by the Bay Jack & Jill. Yon is grateful to Lindy Hop for giving her the opportunity to connect with many, many, many wonderful people from all over the world.
